That’s the thing about letting old lovers go. You don’t stop loving some of them. There are a couple you love no less than you ever did. Not to mention names, but I’m still in love with a couple. You’re not going to try and make it work again, but if they needed you, you’d drop everything.

I want to know how many scars you have and memorize the shape of your tongue. I want to climb the curve of your lower back and count your vertebrae, your ribs, your fingers, your goose bumps. I want to chart the topography of yout anatomy and be fluent in your body language. I want you, entire.

People are messy. They complicate things, Their emotions, their feelings, their planned actions, and especially those unplanned ones. The thoughts they keep and the thoughts they speak. A hand in another can be a mess. A phone call with thousands of miles in between can be a mess. A yelling match with no obvious winner can be a mess.
But there is something beautiful about people that can be admired, underneath all that mess.
Their ability to love, love and love again. Through trials and tribulations. Through good times or bad. Through death, life, and heartache people love, love and love again.
